Welcome to the DeWitt Middle School athletic page for Track
Track and Field sign ups will take place on March 8th and March 9th in the cafeteria during 7th-8th Grade Lunches. See Mr. Dodson during this time. If you would like to sign up after the deadline, please email Mr. Dodson (dodsonr@dewittschools.net) or Coach Moundros (moundrosk@dewittschools.net). The first practice is tentatively scheduled for April 1st. A normal practice time is from 2:30-4:30 on most school days. Most league track meets take place on Wednesdays throughout the season. They start at 4:30 and usually end around 7:30. When it's available, you'll be able to view the complete schedule below. The schedule could change depending on weather or other reasons.
Once rosters have been set, please tell your son/daughter to check their Track Google Classroom page every day for announcements from coaches.
To participate, students must have a current physical card on file in our main office. There is also a sports fee of $160 that must be paid prior to the first meet. Students that have previously played on a DeWitt Middle School sports team, during this school year, have already met the requirement of a physical card and sports fee and will not have to submit anything else to be able to participate in track.

Fees
The DeWitt Board of Education sets fees annually for student participation pricing. Sports participation fees (Pay to Play):
High School fee $250/Year ($550 Family Limit)
Middle School fee $160/Year ($320 Family Limit)
The limit for families with both high school and middle school athletes is $550.
Sports Participation
Fee are due before the first competition. Sports Participation Fees will be waived for families that qualify for free/reduced lunch through Food Services. Please reach out to Athletic Director @ dodsonr@dewittschools.net if you have qualified through Food Services.
Physical
Students must have a valid, up to date physical on file in the Middle school office before they can tryout, practice, or compete. All physicals must be dated April 15th of the current year or later. A completed copy of the physical can be turned in at the middle school office or emailed as a pdf to the athletic director at dodsonr@dewittschools.net
Eligibility
Student eligibility requirements are set by the DeWitt Board of Education in consultation with the Michigan High School Athletic Association. At DeWitt Middle School, the athletic director pulls eligibility reports by noon on Friday. Any student that is failing any class is deemed not eligible for the full following week. Student's eligibility will be redetermined the following Friday for the following weeks competition.

The best place for our student athletes to start his or her season is with a strong understanding of the high expectations we have of them.
